2022 Change of Watch

Date: Saturday, December 3, 2022

Place: Belleair Country Club

Belleair, FL

The Island Estates Yacht Club held its annual end-of-year gala, the Change of Watch, on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the Belle Terrace Room at the Belleair Country Club. Thirty members attended, celebrating the installation of club officers and board members.

Vice Commodore Jim Ostrosky served as the emcee for the evening. After acknowledging Past Commodores John Speck, Marcia Coxhead, Vivian Smith, and Scott Moncrieff, he turned the floor over to Commodore Gene Traupman who awarded the IEYC Member of the Year award to Mary Reinhardt, highlighting how she is always generous with her time and talent and how she brings light and life to the IEYC. Commodore Traupman’s final duty included providing Scott Lefebvre his Commodore’s Flag and Stars and proclaiming him to be the Commodore of the IEYC for 2023.

Commodore Lefebvre accepted his new role and presented his officers (Vice Commodore Jim Ostrosky, Treasurer Patricia Ostrosky, and Secretary Mary Reinhardt), board members (Bunni Lefebvre, Sue Moncrieff, Scott Moncrieff), and Social Committee (Bunni Lefebvre, Sue Moncrieff, Mary Reinhardt and Angie Traupman) to the club. Commodore Lefebvre’s acceptance speech themed on traditions, “honoring the old traditions and bringing in some new traditions.” Upon thanking Marcia Coxhead for organizing the event, the podium was turned back over to the emcee where a special gift of Laphroaig Scotch, tasting glasses, and monogrammed ice cube molds was presented to outgoing Commodore Traupman for his three years serving as Commodore of the club.

After the ceremony, our tastebuds were treated to a mesclun greens salad with berries, sliced tenderloin, shrimp scampi, potato flan, green beans almondine and topped off with a chocolate torte. The evening concluded with dancing to music provided by Sam @ Swing Time.

The beautiful tablescapes were done by Sue Moncrieff and Angie Traupman.  Mary Reinhardt handled the registrations, and provided the name tags and tent cards.  Upon exiting the ballroom, each couple claimed a personalized crystal Christmas tree decoration.
