Not-so Newlywed Game - 2021

Date: Sunday, June 13, 2021

Place: Dunedin Golf Club

          Dunedin, FL

A fun time was had at Dunedin Golf Club during the evening of Sunday, June 13, for Island Estates Yacht Club’s Not-so Newlywed Game.  The event was well attended with thirty-six members, including new member Ginger Newman, and thirteen guests.

After an excellent buffet provided by DGC’s General Manager Chuck Croasmun and his staff, four couples – Linda & John Garrity, Lucille & Bob Covino, Sue & Scott Moncrieff, and Marsha & Eric Jones – squared off against one another to see which couple could best predict their spouse’s answers and win the grand prize selected especially for them.

The gentlemen went first doing their best to predict how their wives would answer the questions, then the ladies.  The Covinos started slowly – early on they lost a chance for points when Lucille couldn’t come up with any answer to one of the questions.  They eventually rallied, but nevertheless it wasn’t enough.  They just couldn’t overtake the eventual grand prize winners, the Garritys, who had the correct answer for almost every question.  The Moncrieffs and Joneses did their best but couldn’t match the other two couples.  Great job by all the couples, especially the Garritys.  A big thank you goes out to the contestants.

The event committee, headed by Angie Traupman, put together quite a show.  Gene Traupman was “Bob Eubanks”, while Scott Lefebvre deftly took care of the commercials, i.e., promotion of the next event, Play Ball! to be held on July 17, and announcements of the runner-up prizes; Bunni Lefebvre feverishly wrote the answers on cards, doing well keeping up with the rapid-fire answers; and Angie Traupman, who quickly updated the scoreboard displayed on the room’s two large TVs, and led the contestants to be safely secluded off stage.  Working behind the scenes to assist with planning were Mary Reinhardt and Sue Moncrieff.  Mary also did a great job again taking care of the flyer, reservations, and name tags.

Thanks again to all who helped and /or participated.  It was a lot of fun.  We hope to see everyone again at the Play Ball! event in July.
