Date: Saturday, March 18, 2023

Place: IEYC Speakeasy

          Dunedin Golf Club, Dunedin, FL

The Night of Jazz at the IEYC Speakeasy committee, comprised of Walter Kittle, Robin Bleier, Nancy Beasley, Angie Traupman and Don Prokes, pulled off quite a heist Saturday March 18th…. Thanks to Mary Reinhardt for collecting and processing all reservations and the creation of the name badges and tent cards. She did a great job keeping all era specific! In addition, Commodore Scott, and Butterfly Bunni were there to provide guidance every step of the way.

For those of you that made it to The Speakeasy, we sure hope you thought it was the bee’s knees.

Thanks to the Dunedin Golf Club staff led by their main man and manager, Chuck Croasmun. A colorful night was had by all.

The photo booth in the Speakeasy entry parlor contained many props. There were a lot of fun photo opportunities for everyone that attended. The entry was also adorned with a baby grand piano and custom booze boxes. The hidden doorway appeared as a brick wall. It was guaranteed to ensure no one entered without knowing the Speakeasy password…JAZZ…

After gaining access into the Speakeasy, members & guests were ushered in to enjoy era specific hors d’oeuvres, libations, and a club like atmosphere full of colorful conversation, dancing, and more.

Commodore Lefebvre thanked Robin and Walter for hosting the event and members Don Prokes, Nancy Besley, and Angie Traupman were thanked for assisting with the event. Robin and Walter were then thanked for bringing guests Danielle & Chris Sovey, Stacy & Keith Goldstein, Bob & Ann Clark, Spencer & Heidi Kuchenbacker, and Allan & Liz Raymond.  Bunni Lefebvre was thanked for bringing guests Marios and Ourania Stephanides.  Carol and Harry’s prospective members Ted and Janet O’Brien were also in attendance. Arnie Shal and Mary Reinhardt were thanked for their sponsorship of new members Dick Newman and Lois Boulicault and Jan Nagy and Dianne Stebbins were thanked and recognized for being a members of the IEYC 25-year club. After the recognition, Commodore Lefebvre announced that Arni Shal and Mary Reinhardt will be hosting an International Fiesta on April 16th at the DGC and Patricia Rawlings and Harry Barash will be hosting a Pig Roast in May.

Those that attended were entertained by the accomplished Larry Camp Trio, an outstanding jazz trio, in addition to our very own member Walter Kittle, featuring his eight string piccolo bass guitar. The band played until the last guest left.

We think the night was a big success!
