New Year's Day Brunch - 2023

Date: Sunday, January 1, 2023

Place: Belle Terrace Room

          Belleair Country Club, Belleair, FL

The Island Estates Yacht Club rang in the New Year with the highly popular New Year’s Day Brunch at the beautiful Belleair Country Club. Forty-one members and eight guests joined in the festivities. This annual event allows everyone to reconnect after the holidays and to mingle with guests.

The new Commodore, Scott Lefebvre, welcomed everyone, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and discussed his vision for 2023 and beyond.  He presented the 2023 officers (Vice Commodore Jim Ostrosky, Treasurer Patricia Ostrosky, and Secretary Mary Reinhardt), board members (Bunni Lefebvre, Sue Moncrieff, Scott Moncrieff), and Social Committee (Bunni Lefebvre, Sue Moncrieff, Mary Reinhardt and Angie Traupman) to the club.

In recognition of their 25 plus year tenure with the club, Commodore Lefebvre recognized Marcia Coxhead, John & Sue Speck, Mary Lou Spoto, Jim & Patricia Ostrosky, and Jan Nagy with a handwritten note of thanks and by placing commemorative ribbons on the club’s burgee.

Acknowledgements continued, recognizing each member who brought a guest and members that hosted and assisted with the day’s events, presenting each with handwritten thank you notes and placing commemorative ribbons on the club’s burgee.

Commodore Lefebvre presented the next three events to the club: Saturday January 21st – IEYC Day at the Races; Friday February 17th– IEYC Regatta; and Saturday March 18th– Jazz at the IEYC Speakeasy.

Commodore Lefebvre gave a brief history of the nautical traditions behind ship’s bells and announced his intention to return the Commodore’s Bell to action in 2023, using it to ring in and ring out events—when appropriate.

After Commodore Lefebvre said the invocation, it was time to enjoy the deliciously prepared food. As usual, Belleair Country Club did an outstanding job with the food, service, and decor.
